Mr Shreekant Somany, son of Late Shri Hira Lall Somany, after doing graduation in Bachelor of Science from Kolkata University, joined the family business in 1969.
In the year 1981, he moved to Hyderabad to head the Glass Division of Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Ltd (a group company) M/s. Associated Glass Industries Ltd (AGI).
In the year 1992, he came back to Delhi to head yet another group company, M/s. SPL LIMITED, now called Somany Ceramics Ltd, one of the well-established and largest manufacturers of glazed ceramic tiles in the country.
In the year 1994 he took charge of this company as its Managing Director, and later on in the year 2005, he became the Chairman & Managing Director. Today, the company has a manufacturing base to produce 19.15 million sqm of ceramic tiles annually across two plant locations in Bahadurgarh (Haryana) near Delhi and Kadi (Gujarat) near Ahmedabad. In addition to own manufacturing Somany Ceramics Ltd also outsources about 10 million sqm of tiles per annum from domestic / international manufacturers. SCL offers the widest range of ceramic tiles in the country and has a strong pan India sales distribution network & also exports its material to various countries the Middle East, East and Central Africa, Europe, Latin America, South Asia and South East Asia.
Instrument in Somany Ceramics Ltd becoming the first Indian ceramic tile company to have received PATENT under Indian Patent Act for its revolutionary “High Abrasion Resistant Glaze Composite” known as VC (Veilcraft) Shield. He was personally involved as an inventor in the whole process of this invention.
He is the recipient of the prestigious Corporate Technical Achievement award from The American Ceramic Society in the field of ceramics for development of Somany Veil Craft Shield Floor Tiles.
He has been associated with various Federations and Associations, and presently Deputy Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry Northern Region.
On behalf of FICCI and CII, he has lead business delegations to Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Being in the business of adding beauty to living spaces, he has always been artistically inclined - in love with art, design and music. He is a Director of Samagam, an organization established with the objective of strengthening the fields of performing and visual arts.
Also his hobbies are - passionate with his photography, garden and trekking.

Dr Muraleedharan was also the HRD Coordinator of DMRL during 2005-06 and subsequently headed the Materials Management Division (2010). He has also been the member of DRDO Think tank during 2003-2005. He rose to the level of Director of Materials, DRDO, New Delhi in 2011 where he coordinated the NBC Defence and the Nano Science and Technology activities as well as the activities of Materials Cluster laboratories. He was the Director Technical (Materials), Technical Core Group at DRDO HQ (2013-15) and provided advice and insights into materials related activities of DRDO before joining CSIR-CGCRI as its 8th Director. He has received many awards and recognitions. Some of the recent ones are: Two DRDO Agni Award in 2005 for the ‘Development of Complete Ore-Product Cycle for Titanium’ and again in 2007 for the ‘Development of Specialty Nava Steels’; Eminent Engineering Personality by the Institution of Engineers in 2012; the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Dept of Metallurgical Engineering, BHU, Varanasi in 2013.
Research interests of Dr Muraleedharan include the Science and Design of Advanced Materials, and Multi-scale Microstructural Characterization using techniques such as Transmission Electron Microscopy and 3D Atom Probe Field Ion Microscopy, as applied to the study of electronic materials and solid-state phase transformations. His research at DMRL and CMU concentrated on the Process-Structure-Property relationships in a variety of materials systems such as alloys based on Ti and its intermetallics Ti3Al and TiAl; specialty steels; Ni base superalloys; high energy rare-earth permanent magnets; and ceramic matrix composites. Dr Muraleedharan is a member of many professional bodies and has been the Vice President (2011-2013) and President (2013-2015) of the Electron Microscopy Society of India.

Dr P. Sujatha Devi, a first rank holder of M.Sc. Chemistry from Gandhiji University Kerala, received Ph.D in Chemistry from department of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1991. She joined as a scientist in CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata, in 1997 and at present heading the Sensor & Actuator Division. In CSIR-CGCRI, her group has been working in the area of processing and characterization of functional nano materials for application ranging from fuel cell, solar cell, chemical and biosensors and materials for drug delivery applications.
She has authored or co-authored more than hundred research papers that are extensively cited, three book chapters and three patents. She has guided eight PhD students and many are currently undergoing Ph.D with her.
She is a recipient of many awards like Rheometric Scientific-ITAS National Award from the Indian Thermal Analysis Society in co-operation with Rheometric Scientific, UK., Lakshmi Gold Medal from Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists for contributions in the field of Solid State Chemistry, P. K. Kunju Sahib Memorial Award for Excellence in Chemistry, MRSI Medal from Materials Research Society of India and R. L. Thakur Memorial Award from the Indian Ceramic Society for her contributions in the area of materials science, nanoscience and technology. Recently she has also been awarded the Materials Science Annual Prize from Materials Research Society of India for the year 2016.
She is an elected Fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology. Dr. Devi is the secretary of Materials Research Society of India, Kolkata chapter and secretary of DNA society of India, Kolkata. She is also the council member of Indian Ceramic Society, Materials Research Society of India and West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology.
She is the Editor of the Taylor & Francis Journal Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society since March 2015.

Dr Lakshmi Narayan Satapathy, 46 completed his M.Sc. (Chemistry), M. Tech (Mater. Sci.) both from IIT, Bombay, PGDEE from IIEE, New Delhi, MBA from IGNOU, New Delhi and Ph.D. (Engg.) from IISc, Bangalore. He is currently working at Ceramic Technological Institute of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bangalore, India as Sr. Dy. General Manager with 24 years of research and professional experience.
Dr Satapathy’s R & D activities are focused on “Energy Efficiency”. He has made significant contributions in Microwave Processing of materials and systems, heat transfer Nanofluids for close circuit cooling applications, cost effective wear resistant ceramic components and high temperature characterization. He has guided many students, delivered invited lectures in many conferences and organized many national and international seminars/ workshops.
Dr Satapathy was a UNIDO fellow @ Alfred University, USA and BOYSCAST fellow @ PENNSTATE, USA. His biography has been included in Marqui’s Who’s Who, USA and in International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK. He is the only recipient of three awards namely R. L. Thakur Memorial Award for Young Scientist in 2002, Malaviya award for best technical paper in 2008 and Sashadhar Ray Memorial Award for Industrial Excellence in 2010 instituted by Indian Ceramic Society. He was elected Fellow of Indian Institute of Ceramics in 2009.
He has published more than 50 technical papers in international journals and filed 20 Indian patents. He is a member of the editorial board of “Transactions of Indian Ceramic Society” and “International Journal of Materials Engineering” besides a reviewer for many international Materials Science journals. Dr Satapathy is a life member of InCers, MRSI, IIM, IITBAA and IIScAA.. He is currently the President-Elect of Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association.

Mr Swapan Kumar Saha, a life member of the Indian Ceramic Society, was born on 11th January, 1956. He obtained diploma in Civil Engineering in the year 1980 and joined CSIR-CG & CRI on 18th May, 1983. He further enhanced his academic qualification and obtained BE and ME degrees in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University in 1997 and 1999 respectively. After serving in different capacities at the Institute at present he is the Senior Superintending Engineer and Head of Engineering Services Division of CSIR-CG & CRI, which comprises of Civil and Electrical Sections. During his service he undertook many challenging jobs like total up gradation, addition of new facilities and renovation of existing facilities of CG & CRI to transform this into a state-of-art facility.
He is also responsible for expansion and maintenance of two outreach centres of CSIR-CG & CRI, namely Naroda Centre, Ahmedabad and Khurja Centre, Khurja, Uttar Pradesh. Civil Engineering Section obtained the Award for Best Supporting Section of the Institute for the year 2009-2010. In addition, he constructed Common Service Facility-cum Production centre at Thongjao and Nungbee in Manipur where many people do not dare to go. He constructed a big CFC at Panchmura, Bankura, West Bengal.
He is currently a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Materials Research Society of India, Indian Geo-Technical Society and Indian Institute of Ceramics, Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India). He is the General Secretary of Society of Civil Engineers, Jadavpur University.

Amit Kumar De obtained both his BSc and MSc (Tech) degrees in Ceramic Technology from the University of Calcutta. After working couple of years in Bengal Potteries Ltd and in Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, he went to Japan with a scholarship for higher studies and training and obtained his Post Graduate Diploma from OISCA Technical Institute, Tokyo. He has his training and research studies in industrial ceramics including ceramic frits, enamel frits, opacifiers and ceramic colours with OTK Insulators Ltd, Osaka and Honjho Chemical Laboratory – KK, Nagoya.
He worked for more than 10 years with Ferro Coatings & Colors Ltd, Joka as Head of the manufacturing division. Mr De also has the credit for development and mass production of ceramic onglaze colours and glass colours suitable for beverage bottle industry as per international standard. Development of zircon colours also goes to him.
He joined as a Project Manager with Comcraft Services Ltd, UK and posted in Kenya. He was entrusted to install a ceramic frit, enamel frit, ceramic colour plant including plastic master batch in Kenya. He has provided the entire technology and installation of the plant. Installation of a ceramic frit plant in Malaysia also goes to his credit. He was promoted to Chief Operations Manager of the company and also included in the Board. Afterwards he also rendered Technical Consultancy in Egypt.
He was Technical Director with Excel Colours & Frits Ltd, Jaipur. He also installed the Jaipur plant with his own technology. Presently he is the President of A. K. Industrial Corporation, Kolkata handling Technology & Management Consultancy for ceramic industries specially in the field of ceramic frits & glazes, enamel frits, opacifiers, ceramic colours and insulators.
Mr De is the recipient of Prof. Sasadhar Ray Memorial Award for Industrial Excellence from Indian Ceramic Society and M. G. Bhagat Memorial Award for his contributions in Ceramic Industry from All India Pottery Manufacturers’ Association.
He is a fellow of Indian Institute of Ceramics and was also a member of British Institute of Management, England.
He has visited various countries like USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Japan, Hongkong, China, Singapore, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe in course of his attending conferences and meetings and industrial visit.

Dr Arup Kumar Chattopadhyay obtained his MTech (Chemical Tech, with specialization in Ceramic Tech) from the University of Calcutta and PhD (Tech.) for his thesis entitled, "Kinetics of Dehydration and Rehydration of Aluminium Silicate Systems" from the same University in 70’s.
During his service, he successfully completed Global Management Development Programme from the University of Michigan – Business School USA, INSEAD- Fontainblau France and Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP-2008) at IMD Lausanne, Switzerland.
He has a rich experience of more than 30 years in leading refractories industry in India like Dalmia Refractories, ACC – Refractories Division (Now ACE-Caldrys Refractories), Tata Refractories, etc in various business functions and was responsible for introducing innovative products / services which helped the organizations for their rapid growth. He was the Managing Director of TRL Krosaki Refractories Ltd and Chairman of TRL-China. He was Advisor to the Chairman of TRL Krosaki Refractories Ltd. Presently he is the Managing Director of National Refractories.
Dr Chattopadhyay is a visiting faculty of the University of Calcutta. He has a number of publications in several technical journals and proceedings, and has presented about 80 technical papers in various national and international seminars.
Dr Chattopadhyay has been awarded the “Refractory Technologist Award” by the Indian Ceramic Society in the year 1996. He is a member of the Research Council of Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata; Chairman, Refractory Sectional Committee – MTD-15 of Bureau of Indian Standards; Life Member in Orissa Environmental Society; Member of Odisha ICC Expert Committee; Member of Governing Body of Govt College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata and Chairman, MSME-Sub Committee – CII – ER-Kolkata. He was the Chairman of Indian Refractory Makers’ Association from 2006 to 2010.
He was the President of Indian Ceramic Society for the term 2013 & 2014. He is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the InCerS’ quarterly journal ‘Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society’. Prof. Rajeev Sangal is the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi.
He holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, and MS and PhD in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He is known for his work on computers and processing of human languages, and in particular on automatic translation among Indian languages.
Before joining his current position he led a newly established research university, namely IIIT Hyderabad, for 11 years as its Director. In the new university, he helped create an innovative academic structure around research centres rather than departments; a radical research-oriented undergraduate curriculum; integrated trans-disciplinary BTech-MS programmes; research that tries to connect with society & industry; and an environment of experimentation, openness, and caring.
He designed and helped make human values course a regular part of the academic curriculum at IIIT-H in 2005. It has played a major role in shaping the atmosphere of the Institute, and drawing attention to larger human and societal concerns. There is also an attempt to run the institution on these principles. Since then the course has spread to several universities in India and abroad.
His research in Natural Language Procesing led to the development of Computational Paninian Grammar (CPG) framework. It has been applied to parsing, semanties and morphological analysis of Indian languages etc. and forms the basis of several machine translation systems among Indian languages as well as English. He leads/mentors the multi-institutional consortium that has developed MT systems for 18 Indian language pairs. He has authored 4 books and many research papers.
He is a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and of Computer Society of India.
He was given Vasvik award in 2008. As the President of NLP Association, India from 2002 onwards he helped organize the community of NLP researchers and started ICON, a high-quality annual NLP conference. He referees for many major conferences such as IJCNLP, ICON, COLING and ACL, and has been on the editorial board of journals computational Linguistics, Corpora, ACM Trans. of Asian Language Processing, Machine Translation, NL Engineering, etc.
He was a member of the National Review Committee for PG programs in Engineering in India from 1996-98.
He headed the Department of Computer Sc. & Engg. at IIT Kanpur 1987-90 where he spent 15 years as a faculty member.

Dr Kuttanellore Muraleedharan earned his B. Tech and Ph. D from Banaras Hindu University-Institute of Technology (BHU-IT), Varanasi. His Ph. D dissertation was on ‘Phase Equilibria and Phase Transformations in Ti3Al-Nb Alloys’ under the supervision of Dr. D. Banerjee (DMRL) and Professor S. Lele (BHU). He joined Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad as a Scientist in the year 1984 after a short tenure as Graduate Engineer Trainee at the Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI), Hyderabad.
Dr Muraleedharan worked as a Research Associate at the Carnage Melon University, Pittsburgh, USA during 1995-1997. He headed the Electron Microscopy Division at DMRL during 1989-2010 and was the project leader of the project ‘Science and Design of Materials at Atomic Scale’ during 1999-2004. It was under his able leadership that the electron microscopy facility at DMRL developed to international standards. Later, he became the leader of a project for the ‘Development of Specialty Steels for Naval Applications’. The team led by him developed various steel products for use in the Warship construction for Indian Navy. Thanks to their efforts, Indian Navy need not import any steel for Warship construction. The range of products indigenised are wide plates, bulb-bars, weld consumables, forgings castings etc. in the two Steels christened DMR-249A and DMR-249B having YS at 390MPa and 580MPa, respectively. The country’s first Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikrant II, commissioned recently was built by these steels.

Dr. Jana (born 12 July 1966) did his Master of Science degree in Chemistry (in 1991) from Kalyani University, obtained his Ph.D. (Science) in 1998 from Jadavpur University.
He also received Bachelor of Education degree and “CSIR organized “Leadership Development Programme (LDP 0905)” management course for middle to senior level leaders” at CSIR HRDC, Gaziabad, India.
In December 1997, Dr. Jana joined CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata, India as a Junior Scientist and presently, he is working as a Principal Scientist (CSIR) and Associate Professor of the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR). He performed as course co-ordinator and as a teacher for the course, “Structural and functional coatings” of AcSIR in 2015-2016. Dr. Jana is working as Guest Teacher for B. Tech. students (Chemical Technology), University of Calcutta for the course, “Sol-gel materials” from 2016. Dr Jana is actively involved / coordinated / performing as Principal Investigator (PI) / Co-PI of various national and international research projects.
At present, he has published about 55 peer reviewed/SCI research papers (h-index, 11; Citations 366, RG Score: 29.73), about 70 conference papers, 5 Book Chapters and 3 Indian patents. He already guided 3 Ph.D. (Science) students and also guiding several Ph.D. students. Dr. Jana already supervised 15 M.Tech/M.Sc/B.Tech. students for their projects for the partial fulfillment of their degrees.
He is an elected member of the Council of Indian Ceramic Society for the two successive terms (2015-2016 and 2017-2018) and he is working as one of the EC members of Materials Research Society of India, Kolkata Chapter, India. He is also the life members of Materials Research Society of India, Indian Ceramic Society, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and NCE Bengal & Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Dr Jana is one of the senior members of International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI), Hong Kong. He won Brain Pool Fellowship from Korean Federation of Science & Technology Societies (KOFST) as visiting scientist at Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), South Korea for one year (2005-2006).
Dr. Jana also worked as visiting scientist in Slovenia and Portugal. Presently, he is functioning as one of the Editorial Board Members/Associate Editors of Advances in Nanoparticles, Kenkyu Journal of Nanotechnology and Nanoscience, Scholars Report under Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Journal of Advanced Nanomaterials, Source Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology & Journal of Material Science and Nanoengineering. Dr. Jana delivered several invited talks in India and abroad in different conferences/ symposiums/ workshops/ seminars and also performed as Chairman of several technical sessions. He also worked as an external examiner for evaluating PhD theses/viva examination of many Indian Universities (Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Karunya University, Sastra University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar Univerisity, Periyar University).

Mr Sitendu Mandal, Senior Principal Scientist & Head, Specialty Glass Production Section (Glass Division), who is also the Head, Publicity and Public Interface Cell, CSIR- Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata obtained his M.Sc degree from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry.
During his tenure of 26 years at CSIR-CGCRI, he played a very key role in research and developmental work in the field of glass science & technology. His current research activities are in the areas of high density glass for radiation protection in nuclear hot cell and specialty borosilicate glass frit / bead for nuclear waste fixation wherein technology development and commercialization have been the main focus. While the radiation shielding glass is being produced in pilot scale at CGCRI for catering to the need of DAE, the technology of specialty glass beads has been successfully transferred to an industrial partner for commercial production and supply to DAE’s ancillary units.
Mr. Mandal is a recipient of CSIR-DAAD fellowship to carry out research and developmental work in the field of special glass development in Germany for the block year 1994-95, Malavia Award given by the Indian Ceramic Society, the Best Technology Award for the two successive years (2013 and 2014) given by CSIR-CGCRI. He is also the recipient of the prestigious National Award “NRDC Meritorious Invention Award” for the year 2013 on the “TECHNOLOGY ON MANUFACTURING SPECIALTY BOROSILICATE GLASS BEAD FOR NUCLEAR WASTE IMMOBILIZATION”, DEVELOPED BY CSIR-CGCRI.
Mr Mandal has published 15 papers in national and international journals and conferences and filed 4 patents in India. He is the Life Member of Material Research Society of India (MRSI), The Indian Science Congress Association, The Indian Ceramic Society and The Indian Institute of Ceramics.
Apart from his visit to Germany under CSIR-DAAD fellowship, he also visited Prague, Czech Republic during June 30 – July 05, 2013 to attend the 23rd International Congress on Glass (ICG 2013) and Montpellier, France during the period July 7-11, 2014 to attend the 6th Workshop in glass science and technology organized by International Congress on Glass.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar is Senior Principal Scientist & Group Leader, Secondaries & Resource Utilization at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, India. He is also Professor at Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research and teaching Environment and Waste Management. He is Ph.D in Ceramic Engineering, Fellow, Indian Institute of Ceramics, P.G. Diploma in Cement Technology and having 23 years of research experience in the area of fly ash, ceramics, cement and waste utilization.
His area of expertise includes solid waste utilization, ceramics, cement and geopolymers. Dr Kumar has initiated geopolymer research in India andtoday his research group is internationally recognized for comprehensive research program on geopolymer which encompasses basic research to life cycle assessment, and molecular simulation to technology transfer. He has lead four international collaborative projects with Russia, Hungary, Portugal and Spain on the use of waste in cementitious materials.
Dr. Kumar has edited 1 book, authored 3 book chapters, published 120 papers with~1700 citations, having 16 patents and delivered more than 30 keynote and invited talks. He is on the editorial board of one International journal. Prof. (Dr.) Rituparno Sen graduated from the then College of Ceramic Technology, University of Calcutta. He did Master's degree in Ceramic Engineering from IT, BHU. He obtained PH.D degree in Engineering from the Jadavpur University.
He has been a teacher all through, the first job was as Lecturer in Ceramic & Cement Technology at the College of Engineering, Gulbarga in its formative stage under the Gulbarga University, Karnataka during 1987-88. Dr H. S. Tripathi graduated from the University of Calcutta in Ceramic Engineering and obtained his Ph.D. (Tech) degree in Ceramic Engineering from the same University. He joined Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata as Scientist in the year 1997. He worked two years as post-doctoral fellow at Boston University, Massachusetts, USA and 4 months as academic visitor at Imperial College London. He has more than 20 year’s research experience in different fields of refractories.
His research areas of interest include materials science and engineering with special reference to ceramics and refractories including synthesis and processing of high performance synthetic refractory raw materials, refractory processing and characterization in particular magnesia-carbon, mullite, Al2O3-MgO-MgAl2O4, mag-chrome, oxide-non-oxide system and value addition to natural raw materials.
He has published ~ 50 research papers in SCI journals and more than 30 papers in conference proceedings. He has 5 Indian patents to his credit. He received many fellowships and awards, like Raman Research Fellowship from CSIR, Post-doctoral fellowship from Boston University, USA, Malaviya Award and Deokaran award from the Indian Ceramic Society, etc. He guided 2 Ph. D candidates and at present he is guiding 3 researchers for Ph. D degree.

Dr Arup Ghosh, obtained B.Tech and Ph.D (Tech) Degrees in Ceramic Engineering from the Calcutta University.
He joined CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute in 1983 and superannuated as Chief Scientist & Head, Refractory & Traditional Ceramics Division of the Institute in 2016. He has an experience of 33 years in research and development of refractories and oxide ceramics. He has to his credit more than 70 papers published in SCI journals, 50 papers in Conference proceedings and 19 patents. He is a DAAD Fellow of University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany (2004).
He presented 12 invited lectures in conferences held in USA, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Iran & Brazil. He received Refractory Technologist Award (2015), Malaviya Award (2007) and Deokaran Award (2015) of Indian Ceramic Society. Dr Parag Bhargava graduated with a B. Tech (Metallurgical Engineering) from IIT Bombay in 1991 and a PhD (Materials Science) from University of Alabama in 1996 respectively. He carried out post-doctoral research at Rutgers University. In 1998 he joined Materials Science Centre, IIT Kharagpur as an Assistant Professor and in 2005 he moved to Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science department at IIT Bombay where he is currently a Professor. He has been teaching at the IITs for over 18 years and has guided 15 Ph.Ds and 80 Master’s thesis students. His group has worked in the areas of shape forming of ceramics (slip casting, gelcasting, injection molding, extrusion), ceramic stereolithography, ceramic foams, ceramic powder synthesis, ceramics for dental applications, metal-ceramic joining, sensitized solar cells, tape casting, screen printing, powder metallurgy etc. He was awarded the Young Engineer of the year award by the INAE in 2002; First Prize, Inter-IIT competition on, “New environments for learning, teaching, research, creation, use and preservation of digital resources”, Pan-IIT meet Mumbai (2006); Excellence in teaching award at IIT Bombay in 2008, 2016; The Chevening Rolls Royce, Science, Innovation and Leadership (CRISP) fellowship award for Oxford University (UK) in 2015.

Ltd at Morbi in R&D Dept,to make his Living and Earnings at a very early age of 22.
Personal Life
Shri.Ghanshyambhai Dholaria is married to Shrimati.Hansaben Dholaria who is Partner of
Noble Refractories. They have two sons. Both elder son Tushar Dholaria and younger son
Rushit Dholaria are a M.B.A from International Institute of Planning & Management, Ahmedabad
and are presently the Directors of Noble Refractories.

Choosing not to join his father’s farming at Mota-Aakadia, Ghanshyambhai preferred to move to
Wankaner to try his luck. He opened the innings by working in R&D Dept at
M/S.Parshuram Pottery Works Co. Ltd at Morbi from July-1975 to January-1982 for six (6)
years. During that period he worked in Lab, Q&PC and Refractory Production department with
different capacity.
He left M/S. Parshuram Pottery Works Co. Ltd, in the year 1982 and started a Small Refractory
Manufacturing Unit in the very same year i.e. 1982 at (Taluka) Wankaner, (Dist-Rajkot)
Gujarat in the name of M/S. Noble Refractories.
The Refractory Unit is engaged in Manufacturing various types of Refractory Products (Shapes &
Monolithics), also involved in Designing Special Products, Application/Linning of products to
various Industries, with most modern well equipped R&D facilities by developing quite a good range
of very high value & hi-tech products and established in the market and increase its market share in
Refractory Industry in Western Parts of India and Overseas. Till date growing with Sustainable and

Dr. C. S. Prasad was born in May, 1958 and did M. Tech. and Ph.D. in Mineral Engineering from Indian School of Mines (IIT), Dhanbad in the year 1991 and 2005 respectively. He joined CSIR-CGCRI, Khurja Centre in May, 1982 and at present working as a Principal Technical Officer. He has worked on different R&D projects and testing in the field of Traditional Ceramics.
He has to his credit 32 publications in several National and International Journals. He has received GANPULE Awards for the year 1989-90 and 1992 for the contribution in the field of white ware, sanitary wares, tiles etc. He was council member of InCerS for the year 2007-08, 2009-10, 2011-12 and 2015-16. Shri K.C.Singh is a Principal Technical Officer at the CSIR - Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute, Khurja Center, U.P. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Ceramics, Kolkata. He has been involved in the Research & Development of clayey Ceramics bodies at CGCRI, since 1983.
His main research interests include Development of white ware bodies and utilization of law cost ceramics, glazed terracotta ware, tiles etc. 21 Research papers published in Indian Journals goes to his credit.
He worked for the development of Khurja White Ware Cluster as a Cluster Development Executive (CDE) and he has contributed a lot for the growth of Khurja Pottery Industry through the development of networking within the supporting institutions, formation of consortium, technology up-gradation programmes, establishment of a Common Facility Center (CFC) etc.
He was responsible for organizing Platinum Jubilee Session of Indian Ceramics Society as secretary, Organizing Committee at Agra.
He has contributed a lot for organizing refresher courses of Indian Institute of Ceramics several times at CGCRI khurja Center. Recently, he leaded a delegation team of 9 Khurja MSMEs to visit an international exhibition “CERSAIE- 2014” at Bologna, Italy in Sep. 2014. Dr. P. Manohar was Professor and Head of the Department of Ceramic Technology, Anna University, Chennai. He has retired from service and involved in research activities. He obtained his under graduate and post graduate degrees respectively from Madurai-Kamaraj University (Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai) and University of Madras (Regional Engineering College, Trichy- NIIT). He received his Ph.D. degree from Anna University, Chennai. In 1978, he joined Anna University, where he has been involved in teaching the students (both UG and PG) of Engineering and Technology. He served the Centre for Ceramic Technology, Anna University, Chennai since its inception and initiated the research. Prof Manohar was the Principal Investigator of five major research projects funded by MHRD, AICTE, DST and UGC and a co-investigator for few other projects.
He was a Visiting Professor of Nagoya Institute of Technology, Nagoya, Japan. Prof Manohar has published 45 research papers in national and international journals and presented many papers in national and international conferences. His research interest includes electronic ceramic materials, ferrites, structural materials, fuel cells and bio ceramic materials. Under his able guidance 7 students have already received their Ph.D. degrees in the field of Ceramic Technology and Materials Science and many more are presently working. He has also guided more than 30 M.Tech. and MS students of Ceramic Technology.

Subsequently, he worked as a visiting scientist at the Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Saarbruecken, Germany during 2001-2004 and as a scientist at the Centre for Ceramic Processing, Advanced Research Centre International (ARCI), Hyderabad during 2004-2011. Dr. Hareesh is currently a senior scientist at the materials science and technology division of CSIR-NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram. He has contributed in the areas of transparent ceramics, colloidal processing of ceramics, nanocomposites, sol gel synthesis and coatings. His current areas of research include development of nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications through wet chemical synthetic approaches. He is a Life member of the Indian Ceramic Society and Indian Institute of Metals and also a member of the international bodies like American Ceramic Society and International Sol gel Society. He has more than 60 publications in the areas of chemistry and materials science, ten patents and 2 book chapters. He was awarded the Malaviya Award by the Indian Ceramic Society in 2011.

Dr Andi Udaya kumar obtained his B.Sc. degree in physics from Arignar Anna Arts College, Cheyyar (Madras University) in 1989 and B.Ed. degree in Mathematics and Physical sciences from Government College of Education, Chennai-15,Madras University in 1990. He has earned his M.Sc. degree in Materials Science from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai-25, in 1992. He has got his M.Tech. degree in Ceramic Technology from Alagappa College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai in 1997. He was also awarded PhD. Degree from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai-36 in 2014 for his thesis work titled Studies on SiCf/SiC composites prepared through Chemical Vapour Infiltration (CVI) process. He has worked as a post Graduate Teacher in Physics for three years (1992-1995). He then joined CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) Bangalore as a Senior Research Fellow in December 1997 and became a R&D Scientist (Advanced Structural Ceramics) in September 2000. His current position at CSIR-NAL is Principal scientist and handled several R&D projects from CSIR, DRDO, DAE and ISRO as project leader. He is a life member in ISAMPE, Indian Carbon society, Indian Ceramic Society, and American Ceramic Society. He is now chairman for the Indian carbon society-Bangalore chapter.

Dr M. Balasubramanian obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1985 and 1987, respectively. He received his M.E. degree in Materials Science from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli in 1991. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in the year 1996 for his work on, “Processing and Characterisation of Alumina-Zirconia Powders and Composites”.
Dr Balasubramanian started his career at the Centre for Ceramic Technology, Anna University as a Lecturer in 1995. He moved to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras as an Assistant Professor in the year 2000, become Associate Professor in 2006 and currently he is a Professor in the metallurgical and materials engineering department of the Institute. He is actively involved in teaching and research of ceramics and composites. He has guided seven Ph.D. students and six M.S. (research) students in receiving their degrees. Three more Ph.D. research scholars are working under his supervision. He has published more than 75 research papers in refereed journals.
